Bananas are Better roasted
While camping last year in June at my favorite campground (Russell Brook in the Catskills) we discovered a new way to eat bananas. All you'll need is bananas,(of course :) )tinfoil, mini chocolate chips, mini marshmellows, a spoon,a plate, and a knife (a dull one will do just fine as well). Simply make two slits in the bananas skin side by side, (about a half an inch wide)making sure not to go through the entire banana. Once your slits are made proceed to peel back the small flap you have just created. Take your spoon and begin to make a trench in the banana by scooping out most of the fruit (but not all of it). Place the banana you just scooped out on a seperate plate along with your mini marshmellows and mini chocolate chips. Begin to mix the banana, chocolate chips, and marshmellows all together and once you have finished place it all neatly back into the trench previously scooped out. Replace the flap you have created, wrap the banana in tin foil (tightly), and place either near fire or over fire with corresponding utensils or cookware. Let bananas sit for 3-5 minutes and remove from fire. Let cool enough to the touch peel off tinfoil open up your flap and enjoy a chocolatey marshmellowey banana treat.
