The Setting
Located in Surry, Virginia just 40 miles east of Richmond, Chippokes Plantation features rolling hills, horse trails, James River frontage, beautiful creek beds, formal gardens, and historic buildings, including an historic mansion open for tours.
The Facility
Full-service campsites, rental pop-ups, and three historic cabins. Each site has campfire ring, tent pad, and picnic table. Campground area has full service restrooms with hot showers. Pets welcome. Playground, picnic shelters, Olympic-sized swimming pool open seasonally. Horse trail and horse trailer parking areas.
Park Features
The park is located across the James River from the historic Jamestown colony. Stroll along the river frontage on a fossil walk or watch the sunset across the river. The trail system takes you through natural areas, farmed area, and historic archaeological sites related to Native Americans.
Camping Tips
Firewood is available at the campstore or in honor boxes. Electronic kiosks available at the park office for up-to-date trail maps and area information. Bring your fishing gear, bikes, binoculars, and hiking boots in order to take advantage of all the park has to offer.

Chippokes Plantation State Park is located approximately 40 miles east of Richmond and 60 miles west of Virginia Beach off Virginia Route 10. It is only 20 miles from Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown in Virginia’s historic triangle.
