The Setting
Located just 3 miles from the 8th wonder of the world—the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, Kiptopeke State Park borders the Chesapeake Bay on one side and Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge on the other. In this unique maritime setting, fishing and birding opportunities are abundant. Eight concrete ships create a breakwater to attract flounder, bluefish, and striper and the forest area is a migratory byway for songbirds and raptors.
The Facility
Full-service campsites, rental RV’s, and a yurt. Each site has campfire ring, tent pad, and picnic table. Each campground and RV area has full service restrooms with hot showers. Pets welcome. The brand-new 6-bedroom lodges accommodate up to 18 people and are perfect for family reunions and vacations. Boat Launch. Group camping area. Picnic shelters, playground and 5 miles of trails.
Park Features
Unique boardwalk overlooks offer great photo opportunities of the Bay’s natural settings. Bird species such as blue heron, egret, eagles, ospreys, hawks, and songbirds migrate through the park each year.
Camping Tips
Firewood is available at the campstore or in honor boxes. Electronic kiosks available at the park office for up-to-date trail maps and area information. Bring your surf fishing gear, bikes, binoculars, and hiking boots in order to take advantage of all the park has to offer.
