Lake Cumberland Offers Plenty of Water for Fishing and Boating.
The Setting
This 3,100-acre park sits along the state’s third largest lake that’s known for great boating and fishing. The resort includes a lodge, cottages, restaurant, marina and indoor pool. The park has an outdoor public pool open in the summer, hiking trails, a disc golf course, horseback riding in the summer, playgrounds and mini-golf. Daily summer recreational and nature programming is also offered.
The Facility
The park’s 146-site campground offers water and electric hookups, three central service buildings with showers and rest rooms, laundry facilities, two dump stations, and a grocery nearby. Each site has a table and fire ring.
Park Features
An outdoor, public pool is open daily through early August, then Saturdays and Sundays only through Labor Day weekend. Lifeguards are on duty and a fee is charged. Horseback riding is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. New hiking opportunities available with the lowering of the lake level, but there is plenty of water for fishing and boating, along with more than 50 new or extended ramps around the lake.
Camping Tips
There is a playground at the campground. Firewood is available at the camp store. (Out-of-state campers are asked not to bring their own firewood to prevent the import of insects that are harmful to trees.) Reservations for camping sites can be made by visiting www.parks.ky.gov
