Whether you’re admiring the Mammoth Oak at the park’s entrance, watching wildlife along the nature trail, enjoying a picnic in our peaceful picnic area or canoeing along the scenic river, you can relax and enjoy a shady respite from the busy working world.

The Setting

  • 520 acres of wetlands and uplands
  • 5th largest Live Oak tree in Florida reaching an admirable 10’ in diameter
  • One of seven lakes in the Harris Chain of Lakes with access to the St. John’s River
  • Lake Griffin benefits from the wildlife an expansive marsh lands provides
  • Anglers will find plenty of largemouth bass, bluegill, speckled perch (crappie), and catfish
  • ½ mile nature trail full of wildlife, plants and sounds of nature

The Facility

  • 40 shaded and well-buffered RV and tent campsites available including seven pull-through sites
  • Electric, water, laundry facilities, a hot-water bathhouse, and dump station available to all campers
  • Each site has a fire ring and picnic table
  • Covered pavilion available to rent for reunions, company picnics, birthday parties and general use
  • Playground located in picnic area
  • Boat ramp and dock for our visitors to utilize
  • Canoe rentals are available year round
  • Restrooms located in picnic area for day-use

Park Features

  • Over 500 acres of wetlands and uplands with lake access
  • 5th largest Live Oak tree in Florida located near park entrance

  • Alligators, otters, bobcats, rabbits, raccoons, turkeys, snakes and marsh rats call our park home.
  • Cattle egrets, limpkins, anhingas, herons and hawks share the area with purple gallinules, coots, and kingfishers
  • Lake Griffin also offers the Bedtime Story Camper Lending Library of picture books for campers aged four to nine. 
  • There is a limit of two vehicles per site, but additional parking is available.

Camping Tips

  • Bring a camera, sunscreen, bug spray, and hiking shoes
  • Playground located in picnic area near trail head
  • Firewood can be purchased at ranger station
  • Park souvenirs and t-shirts can be purchased at ranger station
  • Canoe rentals available with life vests and paddles
  • Don’t forget to pick up our Read with Smoky Bear backpack and story books for the children
  • Junior Ranger program available to visitors and campers
