Explore Nearly 500 Acres of Mississippi’s Red Hill Country at Legion State Park.
The Setting
Hidden away in Mississippi’s red hill country, 420-acre Legion State Park remains as unspoiled today as it was when the Choctaw Indian Nation first inhabited the land. With gently rolling red clay hills and thick pine and hardwood forests, Legion State Park combines majestic natural beauty with modern comfort.A scenic one-mile nature trail lets guests enjoy the park’s many natural treasures. And with two lakes, Toppasha and Palila, the prospects for a great day of fishing are excellent.
The Facility
Legion State Park offers three guest cabins, all constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The cabins have been totally refurbished and equipped with plenty of amenities. The park has 15 sites available for RV camping, which feature water, sewer and electrical hook-ups, picnic tables, and grills. A bathhouse featuring hot showers is located in the RV Campground. Traditional tent camping is also available. The pride of Legion is its unique visitor’s center, a hand-hewn log structure that has remained unaltered since its construction in 1934.
