Named after the daughter of Chief Powhatan, Pocahontas State Park is in the heart of Chesterfield County and only 20 miles from the state capital, Richmond.
The Setting
The campground is home to one hundred nineteen campsites with electric and water hookups, three are ADA- compliant, centrally located restrooms with hot showers, playground, laundry facility and camp store. Each site has a grill, picnic table and lantern holder. Camp store has souvenirs, toiletry items, camping supplies and snacks. Secluded in the middle of the park are group camps, Algonquian Ecology and Swift Creek with two to four rustic cabin groups, an activity-dining hall with a kitchen, bathhouse and a lodge.

Park Features
The Aqua Center offers water-based activities for the family, including a kiddie pool, fountain wet deck, two leisure pools, two enclosed tub water slides and concession area.
Explore the 200-acre Swift Creek Lake by renting a kayak or canoe. The park’s two lakes feature crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill and catfish. No gas motors, electric only. Beaver Lake is surrounded by five-miles of trails that are perfect for hiking, bicycling and accessible for persons with disabilities.
Visitors can enjoy summer night performances at the Heritage Amphitheater featuring established performers from across the state.
Nature hikes, canoe trips, stargazing, campfire and children programs are just a few nature and environment programs offered.
Many area attractions are available due to the proximity to Richmond, Williamsburg and historical Petersburg.
Camping Tips
A campground Host is available at most times in campground. Firewood is available for sale in the campground. Swimming and boat launch free to overnight guests.
