The Setting
This campground lies between the west and east branches of the Sacandaga River with the two branches actually meeting near the middle of the campground. Locally known as the “forks” Sacandaga Campground has classic riverside charm and beauty. The campground is located in the southern portion of the Adirondack Park on the Sacandaga River. The area is basically flat at an elevation of 925 feet above sea level. The east and west branches of the Sacanadga River meet at this point, contributing to the splendid scenery.

Hiking is abundant in the area and includes the 133 mile Northville-Lake Placid trail and Auger Falls, a relatively easy hike of 1.5 miles. Although the Sacandaga River is well-stocked several large lakes including the Great Sacandaga, Lake Pleasant, and Lake Sacandaga also offer excellent fishing opportunities. The campground also offers the Junior Naturalist Program where children can complete a journal and upon completion be awarded a themed patch.
